Summary Teaching
Our Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) program is designed to prepare children for a successful transition into kindergarten by fostering growth across all areas of development.
Through engaging, hands-on learning experiences, we strengthen early literacy, language, mathematics, science, social-emotional development, and critical thinking in alignment with the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards.
Students participate in daily activities that promote phonological awareness, letter recognition, vocabulary development, early writing, and comprehension through interactive read-alouds, storytelling, music, dramatic play, art, and collaborative learning experiences.
We also build foundational mathematical skills by exploring number sense, counting, patterns, measurement, sorting, sequencing, and problem-solving through games, manipulatives, and real-world applications. Science and discovery activities encourage children to observe, question, investigate, and develop an appreciation for the world around them.
As a faith-based program, children are introduced to age-appropriate Bible stories and character-building principles that emphasize kindness, honesty, respect, responsibility, and compassion while fostering a positive classroom community.
To promote school readiness, children develop essential executive functioning skills—including attention, listening, following multi-step directions, self-regulation, and cooperative learning—through structured lessons, centers, and guided group activities. We also incorporate educational games and enrichment opportunities that strengthen memory, strategic thinking, communication, and confidence as students prepare for kindergarten.
